Welcome to I Hate IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). Hate is a strong word and should be used sparingly. But in the case of IBD it isn't strong enough. Anyone fortunate enough to be stricken with an IBD will most likely agree with the title of this site.

Colons really hate IBD
IBD, or inflammatory bowel disease, is a group of inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, usually the large and small intestines.
The two main forms of IBD to loath are Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
Ulcerative Colitis effects the large intestines and sometimes the anus. Crohn's disease can pop up anywhere in the digestive tract, from the mouth to the anus, most commonly though in the intestines around the terminal ileum.
Sometimes IBD is confused with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) which is still worthy of hate but is a much less serious condition.
The goal here at I Hate IBD is to help educate those who may be recently diagnosed with an IBD, have loved ones with IBD, or are concerned all those trips to the toilet and cramps after eating might be more serious than bad shellfish.
Parents be sure to visit the Advice for Parents section. You'll find plenty of good advice on how to help your child deal with the trials of IBD. The IBD Dictionary is an excellent resource to familiarize yourself with all the terminology used in the IBD world.
